I would like to reiterate what I said on the previous experiment: this is an experiment. Many people are reacting as if this is a permanent change, which isn't the case yet. We should discuss this post's merit as an experiment, not its merit as a change.
My personal opinion is that the 50 rep requirement was arbitrary to begin with, so we ought to experiment to figure out what it should be.
MyThat being said, my one concern about the metrics cited in the post is that it indicates that low-rep users posted 7.8% of comments but were responsible for approximately 26.4% of comment flags (133 out of 504) during the period of the experiment, which seems quite disproportionate. This suggests that 2 might be too low. Is it possible to break this down further by rep ranges (e.g. 2 - 10, 11 - 20, etc.)? (In fairness, though, that still represents only approximately 1.2% of comments posted, which is encouraging).
I'm also curious about two other metrics:
- Did low-rep users end up with fewer posts in the VLQ queue?
- Did low-rep users post more answers?
